RIVERS: APC claims thugs funded by opposition have hijacked election materials

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been forced to declare the senatorial election in Imo North inconclusive, over varying allegations.

Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly polls in the senatorial district were trailed by allegations of ballot box snatching, kidnapping of electoral officers and reported manipulation of the electoral process.

The decision by INEC also comes 48-hours after its office located in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area in the senatorial district was set ablaze by persons suspected to be political thugs.

The move to declare the election inconclusive was confirmed by Emmanuella Opara, INEC’s Public Relations officer in the state, who said a new date for fresh elections in the area has not been decided yet.
