A call placed to a resident confirmed the jubilation, as he said that a friend of his just informed him that his daughter has been released by the terrorist, though they are yet to physically see them.

For now, journalists are unable to get into the town, as they have been blocked by the military from entering to speak to anybody.

The presidency confirmed the return of the girls when personal assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari in new media, Bashir Ahmad took to his Twitter handle to share the good news.

He wrote: “During Pres. Buhari’s visit to Dapchi last week, he assured the parents of #DapchiGirls that the FG will not rest until all the Chibok and Dapchi schoolgirls in the Boko Haram custody are released and reunited with their families.

“Today, we are celebrating #DapchiGirls’ return.

“GREAT NEWS from Dapchi, Yobe State. Thank God for the safe return of our sisters. Alhamdulillah!”
