KATSINA: Residents protest as bandits kill eighteen in Batsari LG

Residents of the Batsari Local Government Area of Katsina State took to the streets on Tuesday in protest against the killing of eighteen persons by bandits in the area.

The residents, who displayed the corpse of some of the vvictims during the protest in Katsina, said the bandits killed the victims on Monday.

According to them, the bandits came on motorcycles and attacked the residents on their farmlands.

“We were told on the telephone that additional bodies have been recovered. Ten other persons are still missing.

“We started with a visit to our district head with corpses to let them know that there is no security in the villages. They wanted to bury them but we insisted on taking the corpses to the emir’s palace and later, the government house.”

The protesters, took the corpses to the Government House, Katsina after visiting the Palace of the Emir,.

The state Governor, Aminu Masari, said security agencies would step up efforts to curb banditry and other crimes in the state.
