Kogi gov, Bello demolishes Boko Haram mosque, kidnappers’ den

To curtail miscreant and terrorists activities in Kogi State, Governor Yahaya Bello, on Wednesday pulled down buildings suspected to be dens of kidnappers, Boko Haram and armed robbers in Okene central senatorial district of the state.

Those who accompanied the governor to carry out the operations were the state commissioner of police, Mr Wilson Inalegwu and heads of other security agencies in the state.

While two buildings were demolished during the operation, many more structures have been marked out to follow.

The first building to be pulled down was the one said to belong to, Alhaji Tijanni Bakare and located at Oyunkoko Ward in Okene Local Government Area of the state.

The second one was the notorious Ahlul-Sunnah Mosque in Inike, also Okene LGA. Reports had it that the mosque was hijacked in 2015 by members of the Boko Haram terrorist group and has remained one of their operational bases.

Governor Bello, who said he was ready to implement the anti-kidnapping, robbery and terrorism law in the state to the letter, warned those who find pleasure in harbouring criminals to desist or have their buildings demolished.
