Lagos commences demolition of 180 houses

The Lagos State Building Control Agency on Friday, began demolition of defective buildings within Lagos Island.

This came after a three-storey building collapsed on Wednesday at Massey Street, Ita Faaji, Lagos Island, killing many pupils with several people injured.

According to the General Manager of LASBCA, Mr Lekan Shodeinde, 20 out of about 180 houses will be demolished during the exercise.

The agency’s task force also commenced the demolition of a three-storey building on 60A Freeman Street, Epetedo.

It was gathered that the property owners had been served several notices dating back to 2013 but failed to comply.
