Butcher beats wife to death for ‘disrespecting him’

The long arm of the law has caught up with a 45-year-old suspect identified as Idris Aliyu, a resident of Daka’agi village in the Wushishi Local Government Area of Niger State for allegedly hacking his younger brother, Aliyu Aliyu, to death over N100,000 debt.

In his confessional statement, the suspect said he had been living happily with his deceased brother until money became the bone of contention.

Idris who was nabbed by men of the Niger State Police Command said he borrowed the sum of N100,000 from his friend and gave it to his late brother to renovate his house in the same area, but his brother was not able to pay up in good time.

He added that his late brother’s insistence that he will pay back the lender after harvesting their farm products forced him to take the action as he said the lender wanted his money back.

Idris said; “Áfter the harvest, I explained to him the need to settle the person I borrowed the money from. He refused to listen to me and insisted that we were not going to sell any farm products to that effect.

The suspect who regretted his action said his brother’s reaction angered him as he was forced to land his brother a deep cut in the neck which resulted to his death eventually.

“I’m finished. I’ve killed my only brother whose wife will give birth any moment from now. I am ruined,” Idris lamented.

The arrest of the suspect was confirmed by the Public Relations Officer, Niger State Police Command, Muhammad Abubakar, who informed that the suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigation into the matter is concluded.
