Messi scores stunning goal to earn vital win for Barca against Atletico

Argentinian superstar, Lionel Messi scored a stunning freekick to earn a vital victory for Barcelona against strong rivals Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou on Sunday.

Messi, who reached his 600th career goal in the game, is scoring with a freekick for the third time in three consecutive La Liga matches.

Barcelona dominated the first half and got ahead in the 22nd minute when Messi curled in the stunner from just outside the box.

Atletico improved in the second half and pushed for an equaliser but rarely threatened the goal of the hosts.

The visitors thought they had levelled towards the end of the game when Kevin Gamiero had the ball in the back of the net but the goal was ruled out as Diego Costa who headed the pass was offside.

Ultimately, Barcelona remain unbeaten in the League this season, with 21 wins and 6 draws, and have gone 8 points clear at the top of the league table.
