Musa ‘extremely’ grateful, says NFF Best Player title made his year

Super Eagles forward, Ahmed Musa has expressed gratitude to his fans and also to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) after he was crowned Nigeria’s Best Footballer on 2018.

The 26-year old, who plies his trade at Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia, won the biggest prize of the night at the second edition of the NFF Awards which held at the Eko Hotels and Suites on Monday night.

He defeated teammates, Alex Iwobi of Arsenal and Odion Ighalo of Shanghai Shenhua in the race for the award.

The title was won by his former Super Eagles teammate Victor Moses in the maiden edition of the awards.

Musa scored two goals at the 2018 Fifa World Cup, helping Nigeria secure their only win in Russia against Iceland, and was also instrumental to Nigeria’ return to the African Nations Cup.

“I am extremely grateful to you all, for the award. It totally made my year. Thank you!,” he wrote on Instagram.

The former Leicester City star also picked up the Best Goal accolade at the NFF Awards, given to him in honour of his second goal at the World Cup against Iceland.

Meanwhile, his club, Al Nassr, has reacted to the won accolade by tweeting: “Congratulations for our player @Ahmedmusa718 for winning 2 @aiteonffawards awards: best Nigerian player of the year and best goal for his second goal vs Iceland at the FIFA World Cup 2018.”

Similarly, Spanish La liga club, Villarreal also congratulated their skillful winger, Samuel Chukwueze who won the Young Player of the Year in the Male category.

Villarreal tweeted: “Congratulations @chukwueze_8, named @thenff Young Player of the Year! ?.”
