Musa, Samuel's goals lift CSKA Moscow

Super Eagles stars, Aaron Samuel and Ahmed Musa, were on target as CSKA Moscow secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Ural in a Russia Premier League week 26 fixture on Thursday.

CSKA head coach, Leonid Slutsky handed both Nigerians a place in his starting XI and Aaron, who was making his third start for the Army men played the entire duration of the encounter, Musa who has been at the club since 2011 was substituted for Kirill Panchenko in the 79 minutes of the game.

Aaron opened scoring for CSKA in the 19th minutes into the game to record his second league goal for CSKA since arriving at the club from Chinese outfit Guangzhou R&F.

Thursday’s game was the former Shooting Stars forward’s seventh league appearances for the club.

Musa who has an approximate average goals rate of 3.0 per game since joining the Moscow based outfit from Dutch side VV Venlo in 2011, extended the visitors’ lead, 14 minutes after the restart to record his 41st goal in 122 league appearances.

In search of at least a consolation having been outplayed by their visitors, Ural decided to throw more men forward and that decision proved to be their undoing as Alan Dzagoev made it 3-0 inside the final quarter.

The victory means Slutsky’s men have now extended their lead on the Russia Premier League log with two points above second placed Rostov who has one outstanding fixture.
