When are you supportive of your wife?

Are you only supportive when it suits your purpose?

Yeah, you support tour wife when she is thinking of the best position to angle her arse when you are in the mood.

You need to look beyond your nose.

If your wife of ten years and more gets up one morning and tells you she had decided to try out for Nigeria Got Talent as a drummer or train to be a dancer, don’t scoff and laugh at her dreams just because she is your wife, has given you children and lived in your shadow for years. Be supportive.

Most wives, without planning it, give up their lives to support their husband’s dreams. She stayed home to look after the children while the man pursued his career with fewer encumbrances. Or she takes on a less demanding job or a convenient one for the family.

Just think you would have gotten to the stage you are today if you had to back your babies to work? But most women take jobs that would allow them bring their children to work, or leave in time to tend to house chores and such jobs do not usually build a stellar career.

So, at midlife most women in this our side of the divide are getting less satisfied with life. When the children are grown and they have enough time on their hands, they just realise that the job they had kept for years was never what they wanted. They want to do things for themselves now.

And a woman who had given her life for a family suddenly looks up and sees other women doing things she never got to do, she wants one for her herself.

So, if she picks up a hobby or a career, be supportive.

Being supportive of your wife is important.

Some men are only supportive of their wife’s legs when they are in between them. Or supportive of her boobs when she is on top. Anything aside those, he scuffs at her or thinks she is too stupid to hold a productive idea.

Nothing puts a woman down like a husband who would never see anything bright in her ideas. He is not supportive during her personal grief or things that give her joy.

This is another word for selfishness.
