NFF appoints Christian Chukwu as Life Ambassador, places him on N.5m salary

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has appointed former Green Eagles captain Christian Chukwu as Life Ambassador of the Super Eagles with a monthly salary of N500,000.

The development was announced by NFF President Amaju Pinnick during a visit to the ailing coach.

According to Amaju, the federation decided to be part of the healing process of the former Super Eagles captain and coach.

“Chukwu is a legend of the game in Nigeria. The NFF decided to introduce this award as a way of rewarding past players who have contributed to the development of the game in Nigeria. As a Life Ambassador, Chukwu will be placed on a monthly salary of N500,000 as well as accompanying the Super Eagles to matches,” he said.

The gesture by the NFF came after oil and gas buff Femi Otedola fulfilled his promise by sending a representative in the person of Philip Akinola to Enugu to present a $50,000 cheque Christian Chukwu.

‘Chairman’ as Christian Chukwu was fondly called in his playing days will now continue his medical treatment in the United Kingdom as preparations are at top gear to send him abroad for proper medical care.
