Van Dijk edges Raheem Sterling to emerge PFA player of the year

Hard-as-nails Liverpool FC defender Virgil Van Dijk has emerged as the PFA Players’ Player of the Year beating close rival Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling to the coveted prize.

The Dutch centre back emerged winner of the PFA Players’ of the Year from a list of six other players including Sterling, Sadio Mane, Eden Hazard, Sergio Aguero, and Bernardo Silva.

According to the Daily Mail, the £75 million defender who has won the race to win prize is due to be presented with the trophy at the PFA Awards ceremony in London on April 28.

Van Dijk also becomes the eighth Liverpool player to be crowned PFA Players’ Player of the Year after Salah, Luis Suarez, Steven Gerrard, John Barnes, Ian Rush, Kenny Dalglish, and Terry McDermott.
