Nigerien Minister of Petroleum, Mr. Foumakoye Gado yesterday held talks with the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC) over Nigeria’s plans to get crude supply from Niger Republic to the Kaduna refinery.

The Nigerien delegation’s visit to the NNPC Towers in Abuja was led by the country’s ambassador to Nigeria, Mansour Mamman Hadj Daddo.

Details of the talks were not immediately available but it was gathered that the meeting with the Nigerien oil minister was in continuation of talks on the proposed alternative crude oil supply from Niger Republic to Kaduna refinery.

NNPC GMD, Dr. Maikanti K. Baru had last year revealed plans by the corporation to build over 1, 000 kilometre pipeline from Agadem to convey crude oil to Kaduna for refining.

NNPC had said it was important to explore alternative crude supply to the refinery because it has been affected by pipeline vandalism and that the initiative will ensure optimal utilization of the plant.
