President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari intends to hit the ground running, not waiting for the formalities of inauguration to be concluded, as he has called on state chapters of the party to submit three names each to be considered for ministerial appointments.
Buhari however attached two conditions to the names that are to be submitted. One is that the candidates must be technically competent and of proven integrity. The second is that the persons must also show loyalty to the party. With this he has effectively cut off PDP defectors.
The President-Elect, it was gathered also told the governors that he however reserved the right to chose from among the three names to be submitted from each governor. It is speculated that Buhari is not inclined towards running a bloated cabinet, and so may eliminate the position of minister of state.
Meanwhile, APC governors are expected to pay Buhari a visit today (Tuesday) to discuss issues relating to the party’s interests. Such issues include the lingering imbroglio surrounding the zoning of National Assembly leadership slots like Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives among others.
