APC headache increases as Omo-Agege, Emerhor clinch one senatorial ticket

The governorship primary election of the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) did not hold on Sunday as earlier scheduled.

This was as the party announced the postponement of the primary, which was scheduled to hold across the 236 wards of the state today (Sunday) to a date that is yet to be communicated.

Ogun State APC chairman, Derin Adebiyi, made the development known in a statement in Abeokuta, on Sunday.

“This is to notify all party faithful and stakeholders that the governorship primaries originally scheduled for Sunday has been postponed.

“Further announcement will be made upon receipt of firm clarification from the APC national headquarters,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, two factions of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state on Sunday held parallel governorship primaries in Abeokuta, the state capital.

While the Sikirullahi Ogundele-led faction that has the support of the national leadership of PDP conducted its governorship primaries at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, the faction headed by Bayo Dayo, held its own at the party secretariat, IBB Boulevard, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

It was however learnt that Adeyanyu latter withdrew from the race.
