In from Ahmed Boulor . . .
A group of armed men numbering up to 50 according to eyewitnesses, today stormed 7th Avenue area of Festac Town in Lagos vandalising major oil pipelines of the Nigerian Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
The criminals reportedly stormed the area as early as 5am through the canals using speed boats.
There were however conflicting reports as to whether the bandits have been apprehended, as some top military men on ground have refused to give any details.
The area is currently cordoned by heavily armed military men who have reportedly blocked all routes which the gunmen will possibly exploit for their escape.

However, one casualty was reported by a commercial motorcycle rider who claims to live around the neighbourhood of the incident.
He said a soldier was shot dead and the body of the victim was immediately carried away.
The once bubbly vicinity is now a shadow of itself with commercial activities now being stalled.
Residents and people working around the area of the crime scene have been deterred from entering the area.
