OPERATION HARD STRIKE: Nigerian Army claims killing terrorists, recovering arms

The Nigerian Army on Sunday night said troops of 121 and 192 Battalions of Operation Lafiya Dole in collaboration with Civilian JTF and local vigilantes during the weekend killed three Boko Haram terrorists and recovered arms.

In a statement on its official Twitter handle, it said the insurgents were neutralized on May 10 while the troops were clearing remnants of Boko Haram fighters from Surdewalla, Ranwa, Baladayo, Sabon Gari and Shetimeri villages of Borno State in a simultaneous operation code-named “Operation Hard Strike.”

“Troops on Exercise HARBIN KUNAMA 111, have continued to record successes as notorious logistics supplier for bandits crouching between Jibia-Batsari axis-one Marwana Abubakar was arrested at Kwashabawa village in Jibia LGA Katsina State on Wednesday 8th May 2019.

“Similarly, based on a tip off, troops of 311 Artillery Regiment, successfully conducted a raid operation on a suspected facility in Kontagora township. During the raid, some weapons were discovered and recovered.

“Troops of 121 and 192 Battalions of Operation LAFIYA DOLE in collaboration with Civilian JTF and local vigilantes, had on the 10th of May 2019 continued with clearance operations to end Boko Haram terrorism.

“Simultaneously, troops of 192 Battalion advanced along Sabon Gari and Shetimeri villages where they cleared a scout of Boko Haram terrorists. A make up shift shelter for suspected insurgents was destroyed.

“Consequently, the troops effectively cleared Surdewalla, Ranwa, Baladayo, Sabon Gari and Shetimeri villages of Borno State in a simultaneous operation code named “Operation Hard Strike”.

“At Ranwa 11, contact was made with the terrorists, three of them were neutralized.”

This development is coming just as a faction of Boko Haram group, Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP), earlier at the weekend claimed it killed 11 soldiers during an attack in a military base in Borno State.
