OSUN ELECTION: Afenifere suspends Omisore for one year

The pan-Yoruba socio-political organization, Afenifere, has suspended the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the recently held governorship election in Osun State, Iyiola Omisore from its fold.

Omisore was suspended for one year on Tuesday after the monthly meeting of the group for supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the rerun election that gave victory to Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola of the APC.

According a communique read at the end of the meeting held at the Akure residence of its leader Chief Rueben Fasoranti, by Chief Korede Duyile, Omisore was alleged to have aligned with the APC to win the rerun election in Ife South and North Local Government Areas of Osun State in disobedience of an earlier position of the group not to support APC in the election.

The group further said the action of the SDP candidate was also against the position of his party.

“The meeting took a decision to suspend Senator Iyiola Omisore for one year for violating Afenifere’s directive which affected the outcome of Osun election”, the communique said.
