PPD have met their match in Buhari- Presidency

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Osun State governor Gboyega Oyetola for his triumph at the Supreme Court in the legal battle following the state’s governorship election.

The apex court had on Friday affirmed Oyetola the winner of the state 2018 governorship election.

In his congratulatory message through his official Twitter handle, Buhari wrote:

“I most warmly congratulate Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State on the Supreme Court ruling which today affirmed his victory in the September 2018 State Governorship election.

“This Supreme Court decision lays to rest the tussle over the governorship of Osun State and removes all encumbrances on the path of the governor from fully delivering the dividends of democracy to the good people of the State.

“I commend the government and people of Osun for allowing the rule of law to run its entire course. I urge Governor Oyetola and the ruling All Progressives Congress party to be magnanimous in victory and to make concrete moves towards inclusive governance as may be necessary.”

The ruling ends the hope of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in that election, Senator Ademola Adeleke using the court to upturn the declaration of Oyetola as the winner of the poll.

In a related development, Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello has said Oyetola’s win was a victory for Democracy.

Bello spoke in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Muhammed.

He enjoined Governor Oyetola to extend hands of fellowship to his opponents and ensure that the state gets purposeful leadership.

“I have been in election tribunals down to the Supreme Court and can attest to the level of distraction a Governor and his administration face on account of some needless litigations. But a calm disposition, open-mindedness and inclusiveness towards everybody; including those who instituted litigations against you, is what defines a true leader”, Bello said.
