Pinnick defends Ahmed Musa, says 'wife beating' report is false

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has come out in defence of Super Eagles’ Ahmed Musa who was reportedly arrested by the police in Leicester on suspicion of beating his wife.

Following the news on Thursday NFF President Amaju Pinnick has claimed that the reports are false.

The 24-year-old Leicester City ace, who got married to Jamila in 2013 and now with two children, was said to have been arrested by the Police on Tuesday.

According to The Sun, which broke the news, neighbours said officers had spent two hours at Musa’s home, with two plain-clothed women officers arriving at the £850,000 five-bedroom detached property in the city’s Countesthorpe area.

But Pinnick has come out strongly in defence of Musa, saying he’s too responsible to be involved in such domestic violence.

“I’m in touch with Ahmed Musa,” Pinnick was quoted by the official Super Eagles Twitter handle on Thursday.

“Reports of wife battering are false. Musa remains a responsible family man and player.

“Ahmed Musa is also very committed to seeing that we realize our dreams of making it to Russia 2018 World Cup.”

On Wednesday, Musa had posted a picture of his wife on Instagram to celebrate her birthday.

He wrote: “On this special day, may you have: All the joy, your heart can hold; All the smiles, a day can bring; And all the blessings, a life can unfold.”

Meanwhile, there have also been reports that Musa was released by the United Kingdom police without any charges after his arrest.
