In from Olumide Olaoluwa …
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) delegates who had arrived Lokoja, the Kogi State capital in preparations for the party’s governorship primary were left disappointed when the National Working Committee (NWC) announced a postponement.

The exercise earlier billed for tomorrow (Thursday) was shifted to Monday, September 14.

Many of the delegates openly booed the party officials, protesting the postponement was orchestrated for a decided end.
The latest postponement leaves the PDP with just 24 hours after Monday to present a candidate in line with the requirement of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that parties must present their candidates within 90 days to an election.

It also means aggrieved aspirants will have no room to file appeals or seek for redress from issues arising from the exercise.

A statement by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olisa Metuh, attributed the postponement to “some logistics issues pertaining to the exercise.”

He added: “The NWC reassures members of the party and other critical stakeholders, particularly the gubernatorial aspirants, of a transparent, credible, free and fair primary election.”
