Police arrests bribe taking officer exposed in video

A member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, Bello Dakande, was arrested by the police on Wednesday for allegedly sponsoring social media users to sabotage the state security.

Dakande, who was arrested at his Gusau home, was also accused by the police of colluding with outlawed volunteers’ groups (Yansakai) to steal cows in Bakura local government area of the state.

Police said the former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs during former governor Abdulaziz Yari’s administration was arrested on a court order.

The APC stalwart was arraigned at the Upper Shariah Court in Zamfara and pleaded not guilty to the charges for which he was arraigned in court.

His lawyer, Bello Gusau, also challenged the jurisdiction of the court to adjudicate the matter.

However, the judge ordered that Dankande be remanded in prison till December 12.
