Police confirms armed herdsmen attack on Abia community

The Police in Abia on Monday established that Ndi Okereke Abam in Ovukwu Autonomous Community in Arochukwu LGA of Abia State was attacked by suspected herdsmen armed with firearms.

ACP Ogbonnaya Nta, the spokesman for police in the state, who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said that the command had begun investigation into the matter.

The President-General of the community, Chief Chukwuma Okubi, in his narration of what transpired to newsmen in Umuahia, said that the incident took place in the afternoon and that six persons had bullet and machete wounds and were hurried to a hospital in the area for medical treatment.

According to Okubi, the herdsmen invaded their farmlands and destroyed their crops.
