Refineries set 90% target after TAM

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has assured that the ongoing Turn-Around- Maintenance (TAM) of the four refineries in the country will position the facilities to refine at 90 per cent capacity.

NNPC general manager, Services, Mr Abubakar Muhammed, gave the assurance at the ongoing 38th edition of the international conference of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and exhibitions in Lagos.

Muhammed said that out of the 90 per cent production about 40 per cent would be on Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) known as petrol.

He also said that additional refineries would be expected at the long and short term to increase the country’s refining capacity and domestic consumption.

The manager said that the federal government was committed to gas development and reviving gas infrastructure. He said that the nation was in need of renovation and a petroleum industry law that would define the country’s future oil and gas production and generation.
