SACK OF DSS BOSS: More heads to roll in Presidency

The sack of Alhaji Lawal Daura, who until Midday of Tuesday, August 7, 2018 was the Director General of Nigeria’s secret service, Department of State Security (DSS), will mark the beginning of what a presidency insider told Ripples Nigeria is a “house cleaning exercise”.

According to our source, the “house cleaning exercise’ will consume top members of the administration who had been identified as the cabal holding President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration to ransom.

It was also gathered, that the exercise will likely consume some members of the security forces including the Police.

Already, there are indications that associates of the President had registered their disapproval of how the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, had created image problems for the administration with his refusal to honour invitations by the Senate.

According to our source, Buhari may have been prevailed upon to fire Idris.

Our source said that indeed, the President agreed to fire the Police boss and had gone ahead to meet with immediate past IGP, Suleiman Abba, who was to help him source a replacement for Idris.

It was gathered that Abbah also contacted a former IGP who declined to join the search.

Our source indicated that though Abba had identified a replacement for Idris and presented him to the President, some other forces taking advantage of Idris’ uncouth management of the Police, prevailed on the president to shift his plans.

“If not, Idris would have been replaced since early July”, our source said.

Our source also indicated that the house cleaning exercise will not spare those who had created image problems for the government irrespective of their closeness to the President.
