Sen Sani warns Buhari, says recession may lead to revolution

An All Progressives Congress (APC) senator, Shehu Sani has warned that the present recession in Nigeria may result into revolution if nothing is done by the government to remedy the situation in the shortest possible time.

He advised that one of the things President Muhammadu Buhari-led government must urgently do to take the country out of recession was to take his anti-corruption war beyond former President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration to others before it.

In doing that, Sani believes President Buhari will be able to recover the nation’s monies and resources stolen by corrupt-minded past administrators.

The senator, who represents Kaduna Central, stated this weekend in Abuja, as the country marked its 56th Independence anniversary.

“We are in recession, but the recession must be tackled headlong by the Federal Government and all stakeholders in the polity towards getting out of it very quickly or else, it may lead to revolution.

“The 2015 election supposed to have ushered us into a new hope of unity and progress. But there are a lot of mistakes that have been made in the last one year. One of the corrections is the need for us to look forward in terms of bringing our people to the Promised Land and not look backward on crises we faced in the past,” he said.

Sani also pointed that bad Nigeria has lost over $3 trillion oil monies within the last 56 years owing to bad leadership of successive governments.
