Senate passes power sector reform, chemical weapons bills

Where are our senators? Senate adjourns plenary after only 20 members showed up!

The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday passed the Electric Power Sector Reform Act (Amendment) Bill, 2019 and Chemical Weapons (Prohibition) Bill, 2019.

Also passed by the lawmakers was the National Board for Technical Education (Repeal and Re-enactment) Bill, 2019.

The passing of the Power Sector reform bill came after the lawmakers considered the report of the Senate Committee on Power, Steel Development, and Metallurgy.

The committee chairman, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, presented the report after which the Senate considered the Power Sector Reform Bill, read and passed it for the third time.

Similarly, reports on bills on Chemical Weapons (Prohibition), 2019, and National Board for Technical Education (Repeal and Re-enactment) bill, 2019 was also considered by the lawmakers.

They were read and passed for the third time.
