Court invalidates installation of 21 kings by Gov Ajimobi

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has condemned the shooting that took place at the palace of the Olubadan on Monday, while also calling on security agencies to make every effort to apprehend the gunmen.

In a statement through his Special Adviser, Communication and Strategy, Yomi Layinka, Ajimobi stated that his government would do everything to frustrate the efforts of people determined to take the state back to a period when violence ruled, leaving the residents in fear because of threat to their lives and property.

The statement read, “The attention of the Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, has been drawn to the alleged act of brigandage during a ceremony at the palace of the Olubadan, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Saliu Adetunji, today (on Monday).

“The governor condemns the said act in its entirety and has directed security agencies to ensure that the masterminds are swiftly arrested, interrogated and brought to justice. The governor has vowed not to brook anyone or group of people desirous of bringing back the regime of violence and brigandage to the state.

“He wishes to reiterate his commitment to the security and protection of lives and properties of all citizens of Oyo State, which he has laboured hard to restore and maintain in the last six years”.

Observers will welcome this reaction by the governor, interpreting it as an act of responsibility and sense of duty, since it appeared that Ajimobi was able to set aside his differences with the Olubadan in responding to the tragic occurrence.
