SIERRA LEONE: High Court gives go-ahead for delayed run-off
An injunction to delay the second round of presidential election, which had been scheduled to take place on Tuesday, has been overruled by a High Court in Sierra Leone.
According to Justice Abdul Rahman Mansaray, the High Court has decided to vacate the injunction to delay the second round of the presidential election and has ruled that the election “can go ahead as planned”.
The decision is coming three days after the head of the National Electoral Commission in Sierra Leone placed an injunction on presidential runoff pending hearing into an audit case of the electoral system in the country.

The APC’s candidate, Samura Kamara, finished slightly behind Julius Maada Bio of the opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) in the first round of voting on March 7, but neither candidate gained the 55 percent of votes needed to win outright.
The case that led to the injunction was filed by one Ibrahim Sorie Koroma, a lawyer linked to the ruling party All People’s Congress (APC). Lawyer Koroma in his filing averred that electoral fraud allegations should be investigated before the vote goes ahead.
