Solomon’s wisdom needed! 2 candidates claim 1 certificate of return

Published

There was real drama on Friday at the INEC office in Enugu, when two people showed up to lay claim to the certificate of return for the Nsukka/Igboeze South federal constituency, to the House of Representatives, which was won by the PDP.

The two men, Mr Ikechukwu Ugwuegede and Dr Patrick Asadu, both members of the party were engulfed in a legal tussle over the party’s candidacy for the election.

Asadu, a member of the House of Representatives, secured a ruling at the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja recognising him as the right candidate for the election.

Ugwuegede, however, appealed the ruling, which is yet to be heard.

So, the two appeared at the INEC office during the presentation of certificates of return to the Governor-elect and National Assembly members-elect but were denied the certificate.

Its simple. Give the certificate to Asadu and if Ugwuegede wins his appeal, the certificate gets transferred to him. Besides, who did INEC have recognized as the party’s candidate for the election?
