Son scores hat-trick as Tottenham advance to FA Cup last-4

Son Heung-Min netted thrice on Sunday to help Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur cruise into the semifinals of the English FA Cup, as they defeated Millwall 6-0 at the White Hart Lane.

Christian Eriksen opened the scoring with a clean finish after Dele Alli’s chest down on the half-hour mark, before Son scored four minutes before half-time and then four minutes into the second half to make it three for the hosts.

Alli later tapped home the fourth with substitute Vincent Janssen adding the fifth before Son completed his hat-trick with virtually the last kick of the game after a mistake by keeper Tom King.

Spurs will however be hoping for a change of fortune after losing their last six FA Cup semi-finals as they look to win a major trophy for the first time since 2008.

Spurs’ striker Harry Kane, who was awarded EPL Player of the Month for February, was replaced after being hurt when Millwall’s defender Jake Cooper tried to block his shot after just seven minutes.

“It is always horrible to lose a player like Harry but when he went off everyone stepped up a gear. We wish him a speedy recovery,” Spurs’ forward Dele Alli said after the game.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have reached the FA Cup semi-final stage for the 20th time in their history, becoming the eighth team to achieve this feat.

Spurs join Arsenal, Manchester City and any one of Chelsea and Manchester United in the last four, which draw will be done on Monday right after the Blues and the Red Devils play it out at Stamford Bridge.
