SOUTH SUDAN: 19 confirmed dead after passenger plane crashes into river

Tragedy struck in South Sudan when a 19-seater plane carrying 22 people crashed into a river.

Reports say 19 lives were lost when the plane carrying passengers from Juba International Airport to the city of Yirol crashed on Sunday.

The tragic incident which however witnessed the rescue of three people, including one child and a co-pilot, was confirmed by State Information Minister Taban Abel Aguek.

He said authorities were investigating the cause of Sunday’s crash.

“We have not yet established full details,” Aguek told newsmen. “When it arrived the weather was so foggy and when it tried to land it crashed.”
