Spain risk World Cup expulsion —Reports

The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) has reportedly warned Spain that they risk being expelled from the 2018 World Cup due to possible political interference.

The world football governing body usually suspends the membership of any nation if political pressure is found to influence its football association.

And according to reports in Spain, FIFA sent a letter to the Spanish Football Federation, explaining their team could lose their ticket to Russia if the government proceeds with plans to appoint a new RFEF President.

Spanish football has been led by interim Juan Padron since the summer after veteran chief Angel Maria Villar was forced to step down on corruption charges.

The 2010 champions were drawn in Group B alongside Iran, Morocco and Portugal; and should kick off their campaign against fellow Europeans, Portugal on June 15, 2018.

The Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup finals kicks off June 14 and ends in July 15, 2018.
