The COVID-19 patient, who last week ran away from an isolation centre in Taraba has been apprhended, the state government said.

The patient, Talatu Idris (female), had fled the centre were she was being treated alongside seven other patients.

However, the State Commissioner for Health and chairman of the state’s COVID-19 technical committee, Dr Innocent Vakkai, speaking at a briefing in Jalingo, the state capital on Monday, said she had been apprehended and taken back to the isolation facility.

The commissioner said the state was now conducting contact tracing to curtail the spread of the virus.

He also hinted that the state would by Wednesday conduct another round of test on those who earlier tested positive for COVID-19 in the state to know their current status.

He denied the claims that schools and worship centres have been opened.

“Our schools and worship centres remain closed while members of the public are urged to observe all precautionary measures outlined for safety during the two day window allowed for movement in the state,” he said.
