Thug stabs 24-yr-old to death over N200 tip

A community thug in Anambra State identified as Ifeanyi Ali is now cooling his heels in police net after her allegedly stabbed a 24-year-old tricycle rider Chigozie Alo to death for refusing to tip him with the sum of N200.

Reports say the suspect had boarded the tricycle of the victim and on arriving at his destination, he demanded the sum of N200 from Chigozie to buy gin at a local joint.

However, the victim told the suspect that he had no money on him as he had just started work for the day, but the thug would have none of it as he demanded that he buy the drink on credit instead.

In the ensuing argument, the victim attempted to away from the scene but he was allegedly stabbed by the thug with a broken bottle which made him bleed to death.

Recounting the incident, father of the deceased Jacob Alo, 58, who resides in Awada, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State said Chigozie was his only child.

He said; “On May 13, 2018, he carried Ali to where he was going. When he got to where he was going, he asked my son to give him money to buy a drink at a joint. Chigozie told him he did not have money and promised to meet him at the bar to pay for the drink.

“But the man seized his tricycle key; held him from the back and stabbed him with a broken bottle. That was how he killed our only child. He was our only hope. We wanted to get him a wife this year. It was very painful.

The victims father also added that Ali was a known thug in the community.

“He had finished his secondary school education and was struggling to raise funds to further his education. Ali is a notorious criminal in this community; we want justice,” he said.

The incident was confirmed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Haruna Muhammed, who however did not comment further on the matter.
