1 dead, 4 hurt as fire engulfs Trump Tower

A raging inferno which engulfed the 50th floor of Trump Tower in New York has left one resident dead and four firefighters injured local authorities say.

The dead victim identified as Todd Brassner, 67, was pulled out of his apartment unconscious and was later taken to Mount Sinai Roosevelt Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Flames and smoke were spotted billowing and debris raining down from the 50th floor of the Trump Tower around 5:30 p.m. Brassner lived in apartment 50C.

According to FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro during a press conference, four of their firefighters suffered non-life-threatening injuries — two of them burn-related.

This is the second fire to spark at the skyscraper in recent months following a fire incident on Jan. 9 with three people, including a firefighter wounded after Secret Service agents spotted flames coming from a heating and cooling unit located on the rooftop of the building.
