President Muhammadu Buhari has condemned the execution of four aid workers by Boko Haran terrorists in North-eastern Nigeria. He said that the defeat of evil by good was inevitable no matter the pyrrhic victory evildoers seem to win. The aid workers worked with Action Against Hunger. Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El Rufai, on Saturday declared that the Kaduna-Abuja Highway has become the safest in the country, from being the most dangerous. According to the governor, no act of criminality or kidnapping has taken place on the road in the last two months, adding that this is due to the measures taken by his government in collaboration with security agencies. The governor stated this in Kaduna while speaking with journalists after declaring open a meeting of Federal and State security Administrators in Kaduna, adding that the state has amended its penal code since 2016 to make Kidnapping a capital offence in Kaduna state. 4. ORJI KALU: Sun Newspaper reacts to marking of its corporate headquarters by EFCC

Sun Newspaper has issued an official statement on the marking of its corporate headquarters by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). EFCC had on Saturday started marking properties belonging to a former Abia State governor, Orji Uzor Kalu. The marking, according to EFCC, was to ensure that the properties were not dissipated, following the December 5, 2019 order of Justice Muhammed Idris sitting at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos that Kalu’s company, Slok Nigeria Limited, be wound up and all assets forfeited to the Federal Government. 5. Enugu civil servants to receive 13th month salary

Civil servants in Enugu State will enjoy a 13th month salary to celebrate the forthcoming Christmas with their loved ones. This is as the State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, approved the payment of 13th month salary for staff of all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) in the state. The decision, part of the outcome of the State Executive Council (EXCO) meeting, was disclosed by the Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Chijioke Edeoga. Read more

Dr. Usman Bugaje, a former Political Adviser to the presidency during the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo, on Saturday declared that the current war against corruption by the adminstration of President Muhammadu Buhari has become ‘profoundly disappointing’. Baguje, who spoke in Lagos at the 25th anniversary of the Sarkin Fulani of Lagos, Dr Mohammed Abubakar Bambado II, blamed the insurgency, farmers-herders crisis and ethnic clashes in the country on the manipulation by “incompetent politicians whose only way of winning is through this manipulation of religion and ethnicity.” Read more

7. Aviation minister vows to protect Nigerians from foreign airlines’ shabby treatment

Hadi Sirika, the Minister of Aviation, has vowed to protect Nigerians from any scornful treatment by foreign airlines operating in the company. Sirika gave the assurance Saturday in Abuja via a statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs, Ministry of Aviation, James Odaudu. A former militant leader, Mujahid Dokubo-Asari, has said it was unfortunate that Rivers State has an “uncontrollable” person like Nyesom Wike as governor. The former leader of Niger Delta People Volunteer Force (NDPVF) stated this in response to Wike’s alleged threat to remove the Amanyanabo of Kalabari Kingdom, King Theophilus Princewill. Also, the monarch’s son, Prince Tonye Princewill, who also reacted to the comment by Wike, described the governor in a statement, as speaking like a ‘boy’ and should be ignored by the superiors. 10. OAU lecturer shot dead in Edo

Unknown gunmen on Friday evening shot dead a senior lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife, Prof. Jerome Elusiyan, along the Benin-Ekpoma Expressway in Edo State. The deceased was the Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC) at the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital Complex, (OAUTH), Ile-Ife. According to a family source, the deceased was travelling between Ekpoma and Benin alongside his driver when he was attacked by the gunmen. Read more
