The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, said on Tuesday at least 141,391 police personnel have been promoted in the Force since 2019.

The IGP, who stated this during the decoration of some recently promoted Commissioners of Police and Assistant Inspectors-General of Police at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, said the figure comprised 41,480 officers and 91,911 rank and files.

Adamu implored the newly- promoted officers to be more dedicated to their duties.

He said: “I am convinced that all of you, the newly promoted officers, who are seated here today fit perfectly into my human capacity development vision.”

President Buhari had last week extended the tenure of the IGP by another three months.

Adamu, who joined the Nigeria Police Force on February 1, 1986, attained the mandatory 35 years in service on February 1.
