There was a pleasant shock at a South-West security summit organized in Ibadan on Monday when Olubadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, surfaced with the high chiefs of the town who had been in a long term rift with him.

Olubadan and the royal chiefs had been in an acrimonious relationship for over two years.

But what appeared an end to the crises, occurred when the monarch was accompanied by the high chiefs into a South-West geopolitical zone security summit in Ibadan on Monday.

The state governor, Seyi Makinde, while observing protocols at the summit which had Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun state; the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu; and representatives of other governors in attendance commended the presence of Olubadan and his chiefs.

The Governor said, “I am happy that high chiefs accompanied Kabiyesi, Olubadan to this event.”

The audience roared in wild jubilation as they looked in the direction of the smiling chiefs and the elated monarch.

Those with the Olubadan were the Otun Olubadan, Lekan Balogun; Balogun Owolabi Olakulehin; Asipa Olubadan, Eddy Oyewole; Asipa Balogun Lateef Adebimpe; Ekarun Olubadan, Amidu Ajibade and Ekarun Balogun Kola Adegbola.

Recall that the last time the chiefs accompanied Olubadan to public functions was over two years ago, following their controversial elevation to crown-wearing kings by the past administration.

They had stormed the palace last Monday to felicitate Oba Adetunji who celebrated his 91st birthday.
