2019: 'My posters are in a room' yet I can't run for president, Fayose reveals

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has said he is suspending his presidential ambition in sympathy with his deputy, Professor Olusola Eleka, who he said was robbed of the mandate given to him at the governorship election conducted in July.

The outgoing governor stated this on Saturday, when two presidential aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rabiu Kwankwaso and Taminu Turaki visited him in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

It would be recalled that Fayose had declared his interest in contesting for the nation’s top office at an in Abuja early in the year, turning deaf ears to warnings that the the office has been zoned to the North.

According to the governor, whose tenure expires on the 15th of October, he had to drop the ambition as mark of sympathy and concern for his deputy, Prof. Eleka.

“I dropped the presidential ambition because of the stolen mandate freely given to my deputy

“As a good leader, I cannot abandon my loyal deputy whose mandate was stolen by the APC and be pursuing another ambition

Both Kwankwaso and Turaki were in Ado Ekiti to lobby the state’s delegates to vote for them at the PDP presidential primary.
