2face manager, accomplice arrested, detained for forgery

The pair of Efe Omorogbe, the founder and chief executive officer of Now Muzik Ltd and one Joel Ajayi were both arrested and detained after they were paraded before the Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for forgery.

Reports say the pair spent the night at Zone 2 Police Headquarters, Lagos subsequently after the case presided over by Magistrate O.O.Oshin of Igbosere Magistrate 1 in a case with file A/29/2018 between the Commissioner of Police vs Efe Omorogbe and Joel Ajayi.

The presiding judge had earlier granted them bail, but it was unclear if they had met the conditions before their arrest.

According to the prosecutor; “After trying to break into the COSON house in Ikeja for a meeting with ‘thugs’, Efe went on to forge the letterhead of COSON and sent out which is a crime. Prior to his admitting to the crime after the report, it became a criminal offence. And the Police commissioner also has stepped in”.

Efe and Ajayi were both handed a four-count charge of forgery, fraud, falsification of documents with the intent to defraud.

Omorogbe, 47, is at loggerheads with former Performing Musician Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN) president, Tony Okoroji, over the chairmanship of the Copy Right Society of Nigeria (COSON).

Trouble started when Omorogbe who is also a Co-Founder and Director of 960 Music Group was announced to have been appointed as the new Chairman of COSON on the 7th of December, 2017.

Reports say Omorogbe was appointed as the new Chairman after thorough deliberations by members of the COSON Board which lasted several hours at the COSON House.

However, drama ensued two weeks later when Tony Okoroji was theatrically installed again to lead the society by members of COSON who said they wanted him to continue his leadership.

Okoroji said the initial move to replace him with Omoregbe was bizarre and a conspiracy.
