Akeredolu presents nose masks to traders, to enforce compulsory wearing from 24th

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo on Tuesday said wearing of nose masks would be compulsory from the 24th of April, 2020 in the state.

The governor disclosed this via his Facebook page while presenting nose masks to traders in the state.

Ondo State Government had said the mandatory wearing of nose masks for residents of the state would take effect from April 24, noting that the use of face masks was part of measures to curb the spread of the novel virus in the state.

He said: “As previously communicated, Ondo State will be instituting mandatory wearing of face masks in the state.

“To ensure that we meet the expected demand for masks, we have engaged the tailors union and mobilized them to commence mass production of masks for our citizens.”

According to Akeredolu, the six governors of the South-West region had agreed to make face masks compulsory in their various states.

He appealed to the people of the state to comply with all orders from government so as to defeat the virus.

It would be recalled that state had announced on Monday that the state’s index has been discharged after testing negative twice for the virus.

The latest data from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Monday night revealed that three of the 665 COVID-19 cases recorded in Nigeria were reported in the state.
