The Bauchi State Government on Thursday confirmed four cases of Cerebrospinal Meningitis (CSM) in the state.

CSM is an acute inflammation of the protective membranes covering the brain and spinal cord, known collectively as the meninges.

The Executive Chairman of the state Primary Health Care Development Agency, Mr Adamu Gamawa, confirmed the outbreak to newsmen in Bauchi on Thursday.

Gamawa noted that one of the suspected cases was confirmed to be a Streptococcus Pneumonia, a strain which does not cause an epidemic.
