The Super Sand Eagles of Nigeria had a disappointing outing at the 2019 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Paraguay as they exited in the group stage without managing a win.

The Eagles, led by Audu Adamu, had their worst World Cup outing, as they fell to three defeats in three matches of the group stage.

The team kicked off their campaign with a 10-1 defeat to Portugal, failed to pick up a win against Oman whom they lost 6-5 to, before getting thrashed 12-2 by Brazil.

Defending champions Brazil won all three matches to advance to the semi-final of the competition, while Portugal defeated Oman also to scale through from Group D.

Before the Brazil defeat, losing 10-1 to Portugal was Nigeria’s heaviest defeat in the championship.

The Sand Eagles leave the tournament without a point, conceding 28 goals in three consecutive defeats – their worst ever outing at the global stage.

Africa’s other representatives Senegal are still in the game, as they advanced to the last eight.

The Lions will lock horns with Portugal for a chance to reach the semi-final.

Brazil qualify as Group D winners and will square up against two-time winners, Russia, in the quarter-finals.
