Buhari gets down to work, meets service chiefs behind closed doors

As President Muhammadu Buhari returned to the country on Saturday, he seems to have hit the ground running as he held a meeting with the service chiefs on his arrival to the Aso Rock Villa.

The meeting which was held behind closed doors was also attended by the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

The meeting was Buhari’s first official engagement on returning to the country after his sojourn in London for about 103 days on a medical vacation.

Though details were not made known, it is expected that the meeting would be to brief the returnee president on the security situation in the country, especially the resurgence of pocket activities by the Boko Haram terrorist group in the north east part of the country.

There have also been treats the to nation’s security by agitations for separate republics by different zones of the country which has created a lot of tension in the polity.

The quit notice, and October 1 deadline by Arewa youths to Ndigbo living in the northern part of the country is also expected to dominate the service chief’s briefing to the president.
