Nigeria’s representatives at the CAF Confederation Cup, Enugu Rangers were beaten 2-1 by Gabonese club, AS Pelican on Saturday.
The game was the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup First Round clash in Libreville, with the reverse fixture to hold in two weeks.
AS Pelican raced into a two-goal lead early in the game before Nnamdi Egbujuo reduced the deficit for the Flying Antelopes before the break.
The second half saw Rangers work hard to level, but Pelican stood against every effort made.
The Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side will be through to the next round of the competition if they score an unreplied goal in the second leg.
Both teams will battle again at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu on September 29th.
