CHAN Eagles'll make Nigeria proud, Salisu speaks as team set for Morocco

Super Eagles Head Coach, Salisu Yusuf is confident that his players are well prepared ahead of the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) and will make the country proud at the tournament.

The home-based Eagles team will fly out of the country on Monday night to Morocco where the 5th edition of the CAF-powered competition will be taking place.

A 23-man squad had been named by Salisu days ago and the coach revealed that the squad has been training vigorously in the past few weeks ahead of their departure to the North African nation.

“Today, we come to the end of preparations for Morocco,” Salisu said in a video posted via the official Twitter handle of the Super Eagles on Monday.

“The progress of the players is very encouraging, because we had three weeks to train and we did very well in training.

“And I believe we are going to do very well in the tournament.”

Nigeria, who won the 2014 bronze medal, have been drawn in Group C alongside 2014 champions Libya, Rwanda and Equatorial Guinea.

Not denying the strenght of his opponents, Salisu promised that his side will fight in good spirit against every team that stands in their way to glory, as they hope to make the nation proud in Morocco.

“About the other teams that are participating with us, we know that it is going to be one team that’s going to win; we cannot change that. And I believe we are going to fight with all of them to see that we make our country proud of us.

“So far, so good. I believe that the players are in good condition basically, tactically, technically and psychologically; so I believe it’s my utmost belief that we will do well in the tournament, and Nigeria will be proud of us.”

The African Nations Championship will kick off on January January 13 to end on February 4, 2018.
