Davido reveals NYSC has cancelled his 1-yr compulsory service

Pop singer, David Adeleke aka Davido has shelved the idea of going ahead with his international tour after announcing the suspension of sold-out concerts scheduled to take place in North America due to the outbreak of coronavirus also known as COVID-19.

The singer who has been on an international tour for the past few weeks made the announcement on Friday via his Instagram page, while also appealing to fans to bear with him over the decision.

According to the singer, the outbreak of coronavirus forced him to suspend the tour over the safety of his crew members and fans as the disease has now become a global crisis.

The singer, who disclosed this, an hour after performing in Denver, Colorado, US, however admitted that it is the right thing to do and that the safety of his fans and staff is most important at this moment.

He wrote: “I’m saddened to halt what has been a fantastic sold-out tour so far, but postponing is the right thing to do. The health and safety of my fans and staff is most paramount and nothing else matters. Be safe and see you all soon! God be with us all!”

The concert suspension comes days after Davido’s 2017 track titled ‘Fall’ garnered 40 million streams on the world’s leading digital streaming music platform, Spotify.

‘Fall’ which incidentally is the third track off Davido’s album released three years ago has grown to become an international smash hit with huge followership of fans from across the globe including soccer star, Christiano Ronaldo.

The track is the most viewed Nigerian music video ever on YouTube as it has been viewed over 160 million times and in 2019, the song also had stints on Billboard’s Digital Song Play charts.
