Dele Alli's headers ends Chelsea's winning run

Dele Alli inspired Tottenham Hotspur to strip Chelsea of their 13-match winning run on Wednesday after defeating the visitors 2-0 in the Premier League.

Alli scored the opener right at the stroke of the first half to put Tottenham 1-0 up after a superb start by the home team. Chelsea looked decent but nothing special to suggest their 13 games winning streak. Alli struck in another header in the 54th minute to earn Spurs a comfortable win against the Blues.

“It is strange for me to use my head rather than my feet, but today I didn’t get on the ball as much as I wanted. I felt that if I was going to dribble it would be with my head,” Alli said after the game.

“There is a bit of history between the sides now after last season and I think we wanted to stop their run like they did ours.

“We are happy to stay under the radar and keep picking up the points. We
are not going to get carried away, there is always room for improvement,”
Alli added.

Tottenham who are unbeaten at White Hart Lane this season, winning eight and drawing two, have moved up to third, two points behind Liverpool and seven off Chelsea.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have some big games against teams fighting at both ends of the table coming up. Their next six games are against champions Leicester City, managerless Hull City, title rivals Liverpool, Arsenal, Burnley and Swansea.
