Don blames SON for substandard construction materials

Published

Following the prevalence of building collapse in various parts of the federation owing to quality of materials, a university don has blamed the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) for the influx of substandard construction materials in the country.

According to him, SON is responsible for the menace because materials imported into the country are not regulated; hence they are not living up to their responsibilities.

Olumide Adenuga who disclosed this to The Guardian during his Inaugural lecture titled, “Maintenance Management: a Posteriori Culture in Nigeria- The quest for Economic Sustainability,” at the University of Lagos, noted that SON has failed to take care of those investments coming into the country.
